Constitutional Connection: Amendment 2 "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Explaination of Connection:
In every situation, the judges ruled having a gun at home for safety is constitutional. Barack Obama, in May of 2009, signed a law that allows you to carry a loaded, concealed gun in national parks. Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. I could guess it is because the violence in Chicago has been ghastly.
This article clearly demonstrates Amenment 2 In the Bill of rights of the United States Constiution. This article means that the people of the United States have the right to own a gun for safety. In all areas, you are not allowed to carry it out, but you are able to have one at home for safety at least. The Congress has the right to force background checks on people buying guns, but not to completely ban people from owning a gun.
The tensions got highers for gun control after the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin L. King in 1968. I could just imagine what Chicago would be like if people weren't allowed to own a gun. It would be so much safer. Too bad that probably wont happen. I'm glad that background checks are required for the purchase of a gun so they won't give a gun to a crazy serial killer. I just wish that gun laws in chicago would get a little stricter! In conclusion, I beleive that the American people should be allowed to own a handgun at home.

Iowa Republican claims Obama really is a Muslim

Constitutional Connections: Amendment l "Freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition."
Explaination of Connection:
Even thought President, Barack Obama, claimed several times he is a Christian, many people still think that he is a Muslim. One of those people is Republican Kim Lehman of Iowa. She thinks that he is a Muslim from his address to the Muslim world in Cairo. She said, "Just had the appearance that he was aligning himself with the Muslims."
This article clearly demonstrates freedom of speech in Amendment l of the Bill of rights of the United States Constitution. The President of the United States can be any religion he wants to be, no matter what others have to say about it. It's not like he could be impeached for being a religion that the people don't accept.
People like Kim Lehman are only making a big deal of this because of the proposed building of the mosque two blocks away from the Twin Towers. No matter what religion he was, or if he were Atheist, he would be practicting Amendment l, the freedom of religion. I dont see why people care beause allowing the mosque to be built two blocks away from the Twin Towers would be right according to Amendment l, but to some people, it may be morally wrong.

GOP House Leaders All Against Mosque

GOP House Leaders All Against Mosque. August 18, 2010.

Constitutional Connection:
Article V, Amendment l
"Freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petition."
Explaination of Connection:
Many politicians like Republican Mike Pence, a representative of Indiana, feels that it "not appropriate" for an Islamic community center and mosque to be built two blocks away from where the Twin Towers fell. He also said that it wouldn't be right for a Japanese history museum to be built on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor so in this case, it also wouldn't be appropriate to build the mosque and community center near ground zero. President Barack Obama continues to say that the First Amendment states the freedom of religion, but he later clarified his remarks
This article clearly demonstrates Amendment l of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution. The President has the right to allow this to happen because allowing anyone worship any faith virtually anywhere in the United States. When people say that the mosque should't be built, they are basically challenging the Unites States Constitution. Even though these freedoms are stated in the Constitution, they are either limited or broken at times.
To me, I feel that the mosque should be built. I say that because its not like that the Muslims will walk down the street and bomb the Twin Towers again. I'm sure that if and when the mosque is built, there will be more security in that area just because there are Muslims near ground zero, but thats another story.
